I graduated in and headed off to Lakehead University in Thunder Bay to do my degree in Outdoor Recreation. I had had a great time at ELSS both academically and especially in my sporting life - but Thunder Bay was going to open up my world!! Wow! |

| So what is Outdoor Recreation? Well think of all the people who work in municipal recreation departments, camps that your kids go to, the personal trainers at the local gym, the ski instructors, the people who work in museums and who work as tour guides or in old age homes... I can do many of those things so; I think you get the picture. I graduated in 1995 from Lakehead University, but because I was not yet prepared for work life - and believed my chances of getting work was slim; I decided to go back to Laurentian University in Sudbury to do my degree in Physical Education. After going a earning my second degree in just two short years, I ended the chapters of my academic life and embarked on a trip that changed my life!! |

| After my return to Canada in August 1997 I experienced a lot of frustration trying to enter a working life. My head was constantly turned over my shoulder, wondering what kind of opportunities lay back across the ocean. After a winter that I can only describe as maddening (looking for work), I received a surprising offer from Finland in February 1998 - a job offer to teach English and Social and Health care as a trainee at a nursing college in a small town northwest of Helsinki. Well you bet your boots I jumped on that! I left Elliot Lake for good in September 1998 and I haven’t looked back. |

With my mom in Toronto during my trip home in July,
2000. |
I made a return trip to Canada in July 2000, my
first in almost two years! It was a whirlwind tour (2 weeks) and it went by so
fast! It was great to be home however and I brought back a lot of my belongings
including my yearbooks from ELSS.
In January 2001 I joined Tekla Corporation in Espoo, Finland as a member of the
Technology team. I am responsible for technical writing and documentation and a
variety of other tasks including web page updates and language support. It is a
great opportunity for growth and I am still learning a lot after almost two
years! You can see the company's home page at www.tekla.com

'In January 2001 I joined Tekla Oyj in Espoo, Finland to become a part of the
Technology team; where I will be responsible for technical writing and
documentation. It means I will have to return to school because I will be
dealing with the hurricane-paced IT (Information Technology) industry here in
Finland and at present I am out-of-date! It is a great opportunity for growth
and I am eagerly looking forward to my new job."
That is about all, if you have any questions let me know!
