ELLIOT LAKE SECONDARY SCHOOL

What can I say besides, "What a school! "I had the best of my years there and made the best of friends. I am glad to say that I still have those friends as friends today."

See some familiar faces of my high school friends

The staff was also amazing. I remember Mrs. Thrasher, the school secretary. She always had a smile on her face and she was very friendly. Mr. Riddle, who can forget him??  Now there is a man with character! Yes, I got into my share of trouble but he was always very understanding and forgiving.

There were two teachers who made specific impressions upon me. They each had their own personality but both had a shared understanding of where we kids were coming from.

Mr. Jon Young

I had him for English class and he taught me so much in
one semester I'm glad I had him as a teacher in grade 9. He taught me how to get involved in school activities, build spirit, show it, share it and shine. Because of what he taught me, that school spirit stayed with me throughout my high school years.

Mr. Jim Carroll

I had him for Vocal Music and Choir. He taught me to reach for my greatest potential and not be afraid. "If you first don't succeed try, try again.", those are words I have always remembered.

During my second last year of high school, some of my friends and I decided to go into the "Miss Elliot Lake Pageant". Tammy Frost and I were living together when we entered the pageant; we really enjoyed this wonderful experience.

What  have I been doing since high school? I went to college and earned my Early Childhood Education Certificate. I returned, upgraded and became a Teacher's Aid. I worked with special needs children in a public school but unfortunately, had to quit as there was no full time employment. I now work for my brothers company, an internet service provider.

I've also had other accomplishments that I'm proud of. I gave birth to a boy in '91 in Elliot Lake. Even though I wasn't residing there I still felt that was were I wanted my son to be born.

In '97 I married a man from the town in which I now reside. With him came a beautiful little girl. We've had her in our custody since she was 6 years old, she's now 11.
